Delta Volunteers

 

Delta Volunteers’ mission is to support volunteer projects that address poverty-related issues, promote social change, develop cross-cultural understanding, and foster partnerships between Delta State University and the communities of Bolivar County. 

What programs are provided by the agency?
 ?      Volunteer clearinghouse for the community
 ?     Operation of campus-based volunteer center
 ?      Recruitment, training, and placement of individuals in volunteer positions in social service agencies

    Academic classes (college credit-bearing service-learning courses)

Internally monitored and supported volunteer opportunities such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and 9/11 Week of Service

What are the specific objectives?
 ?      Train and place volunteers and service-learners in agencies.
 ?      Promote volunteerism and service-learning activities on campus in the community.
 ?      Train faculty in service-learning teaching methodology.
 ?      Exceed 45,000 student service hours each year
 ?      Provide awards to the volunteers.
 ?      Provide clear web- and print-based materials for individuals seeking volunteer opportunities.
