Stella Lindsey Prewitt, a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Delta, is an adjunct instructor of history at Delta State University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in United States history at the University of Mississippi. Her research focuses on the ‘global’ Delta, a study of the complex, reciprocal relationship between the Mississippi Delta and the international community. Ms. Prewitt received her Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State and holds Master’s degrees in elementary education and history. She lives with her daughter in the farmhouse her grandfather built in 1927, the year of the disastrous Mississippi River flood.
